I have a client who has been working with an Illustrator for a children's book series titled 'The Pancake Kids'. Unfortunately, the illustrator has fallen out of touch due to issues in his area and we are looking for a replacement illustrator to match his style as closely as possible.

I have attached some examples of the current work for the latest book. The text and instruction for the page you should illustrate and submit to this contest is below:

PAGE 2A
MARTHA WAS FEELING REALLY SPECIAL TODAY.
SHE HAD ON HER PRETTY BLUE DRESS, WITH A BIG
WHITE BOW THAT TIED IN THE BACK.
(Martha with her dress and be detailed about her clothes,
but make sure it doesn’t show her feet. Maybe she is
looking at herself in the mirror admiring herself. Her
favorite flavor is apple pancakes so if you can put small
apples on her dress)

We were working on a 'per image' cost price, which was quoted at $25 per image so will be looking for a similar price.

You will be liaising directly with the client thus this contest is purely to make contact initially then further work will be discussed.

  Mark, The previous illustrator was found on here. The price for this contest will not be increased. As mentioned, this is a long term project - the price here is for the contest - additional terms will be discussed.

  Hi, thank you for getting back to me. Your arrangements, whatever they may be, are completely down to yourself, naturally - though, for the record - when you state that your previous illustrator charged $25 USD that is to state that they received $25 USD. If you find problems getting takers on the offer, generally this will be the reason why. Of course, if you're previous illustrator was happy with that return, that is entirely their business. However - if you could give some indication of exactly how many illustrations you are looking for to complete your book - that may go a long way to getting more people to put work in. The value per illustration may be a little low, but with sufficient volume required - that may make a better proposition for those considering your proposal. whatever the outcome, I wish you success with your venture.
