Article on International Relations

The article has two parts (five pages each): "Iran-Iraq War 1980-88: Which international relations theories best explain the roles and behavior of the warring parties." "First Gulf War 1990: Which international relations theories best explain the roles and behavior of the warring parties." The article has to analyze international relations theories and approaches: 1) Theories/Approaches to consider: * Realism (classical, neo-realism and neo-classical realism) * Balance of Power * Deterrence * Security Dilemma * Alliance Building * Cognitive theories (perception, misperception etc.) * Institutionalism * Constructivism * Liberalism 2) At least THREE theories/concepts have to be applied for each event 3) When grounding theories and approaches, please consider the BEHAVIOR of States, individuals (regimes/dictators), regional powers (Saudi Arabia, Syria, Jordan, Egypt, Israel, Arab League etc.), global powers (i.e., USA, USSR, Britain, UN, OIC etc.) 4) You can pick different set of theories/approaches for each event but you are not required to (it might happen that three theories can explain both events or it might require four or five theories to explain the both events.) 5) I will provide the reading materials (mainly a few journal articles) and the paper should be based on these reading materials. Only a few outside source is acceptable provided that they reinforce the arguments made on the basis of the provided reading materials. 6) Compare and contrast the theories when appropriate and ascertain inconsistencies between them in assumptions (e.g., the appropriate unit of analysis) and emphases. 7) All citation has to follow APA style and has to have specific page number 8) Font: Times New Roman 12 size; single space (1" margin), NO table, graph, map or illustration; The draft is for an academic journal and will work as a base-literature review, therefore, high quality is prerequisite.
