Writing ARE for workshop in class

(teahcer said)Now, concerning the ARE workshops, which take place throughout the next two weeks, what will be most important is providing the members of our class with as much as you have at the time of your workshop. That need not necessarily mean supplying the class with the entirety of the essay; indeed, in class I have asked those of you workshopping the ARE to supply at least 75% of your ARE (minus the Works Cited page), knowing that it is the longest assignment. We will want to see your arguments as contextualized by your sources in order to provide you with feedback on how best to proceed with what you have, and to address where in the essay re-structuration or re-conceptualization might be needed. So again, there is no minimum page requirement per se, but the more with which you can provide us the better we can advise your writing process. I recognize that "75%" is itself an abstract figure, especially as it does not translate to an exact page requirement for the workshop, but it gives you a basic idea of what you need to come to class with. If you felt, for example, that you could make your argument in about 9 pages, then bringing a strong 7-page essay to the workshop would be appropriate. Workshopping an incomplete, i.e. work-in-progress essay will also allow you to glean feedback from your peers on how best to conclude your work.
