My company needs to convert some Fortran 90 code to Native C++ (Windows DLL). The Fortran code models fluid thermodynamics. There is no graphical interface (it's a Windows DLL), the code is mostly (99%) mathematics and a small section that deals with reading in text files and parsing strings. There are about 30,000 lines of Fortran code. All C++ variable and function names MUST remain the same as in the Fortran code. Comments from Fortran must also be present in the C++ code. Additionally, the C++ code must be as portable as possible (I.E: the code should ideally work in a Windows environment as well as a Linux environment with very minimal code changes). Experience with converting Fortran to a C-like language is HIGHLY preferred.

Greetings, I used COBOL and Fortran once upon a time(loong time ago). What Compiler did you use to build the code in to a Windows DLL? And finally, can I take a look at some sections of the code, in order to determine its complexity? I specialise in C andC++ and have 25 years of VC++ experience on Windows and MS-DOS etc. I also teach C++ , in particular ANSI, which will run on any O/S. Your best bet is to use the internal Math libraries and Standard Libraries that comes with C++( in order to maintain portability).

You can compile the Fortran code as a shared library and use it with C++ programs. It will be faster and cheaper.
