To Bling or Not To Bling?!

On a recent trip to Sam Moon Trading Company in Shenandoah, Texas, I found that I seemed to be out of the loop on some of the latest fashions myself. I have been a country girl all my life and loved my comfortable jeans, boots, belts and hats, and I never realized that now in the year 2010, I was somewhat outdated on my very own fashion sense. Sam Moon is every woman's dream store and every man's nightmare. Be prepared to spend some money but the items you buy are really knock-offs of the originals even though they do have some originals at much higher prices.
When you enter the store you will see aisles and aisles of purses, belts, cell phone covers, wallets, necklaces, hair accessories, hats, and even hair pieces that are the cheaper version of hair extensions. I have purchased many purses and wallets from there and either give them as gifts or keep them. After all a girl can never have enough purses. It is just like Carry Bradshaw from Sex and the City, but not with shoes instead it is purses and accessories instead.
On my last trip to Sam's, I noticed that more and more belts are not just plain anymore they are what I call, "Bling-Bling" belts. They have either Rhinestones or sparkles on them and the bigger the belt the bigger the Bling. I don't own a bling belt because I prefer my comfort zone belts such as Justin, that have the heart concho's on them with some rope designs between the hearts. I feel that the "Bling-Bling" has attracted the younger crowd because I noticed when I watched an awards show one night I saw the Bling-Bling belts on some famous faces much younger than me.
I guess the younger you are the more you like the "Bling-Bling" fashion. You want to attract attention to yourself so you wear the shiny rhinestones and thus get attention towards you. The older I get the less I care to impress anyone so I wear my comfort and less "Blingy" accessories.
I remember I had a great aunt that reminded me of the character, “Flo” on the sitcom, “Alice”. She loved her multi-colored outfits, her big gaudy jewelry, her feathery hats and her over done makeup. So I guess when it comes to fashion and “Bling-Bling” it is all about your taste and whether you want to wear the latest in fashion by wearing the brightest “Bling” you can find at any clothing store you shop at. For me, I think I’ll stick to my comfort zone and be “Un-blingy” and watch the rest of the world in their brightness!
