Commissioning Editor/Content Developer - IFSIP

The key purpose of the role is to develop written content for a brand new website for a new professional membership body, The Institute of Food Safety, Integrity and Protection (IFSIP) which has been created by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH). IFSIP is for all those who work to achieve good food safety, ensure integrity in the food chain and ultimately protect consumers in the UK and internationally. Key themes are food safety and hygiene, food integrity, nutrition and health and food sustainability. It will engage membership from all industry sectors including regulators and the regulated. Initial target audiences are environmental health professionals who are existing CIEH members (predominantly in the local government sector), food safety professionals working for private sector corporate businesses, trainers and training centres who are currently CIEH customers. We need someone who can start ASAP. The maximum duration of the project can be 3 months. IFSIP’s aims are to: •Identify, develop and share knowledge, insights and good practice •Recognise and codify existing educational and development routes for people employed in this sector and bring them together •Be a voice for those who work on food safety and standards The IFSIPs website aims to: •Facilitate the acquisition of new members and support profitable growth targets •Provide members with a suite of relevant content and services including; news, briefings, case studies, toolkits, research and surveys and community forums. It will also carry details of events, education and training and job opportunities. •Support long term relationship development and cross-sector engagement •Reduce overheads with online self service and ecommerce capabilities •Encourage and enhance positive brand reputation The website is being developed and launched in two phases, the first in June when only public content and functionality will be available. The second in September, when member only access and community features will be added. The IFSIP work programme and its products and services are evolving and the content development plan to support them is in the early stages of development. Key objectives [login to view URL] advise the Head of IFSIP on the development of information products and services, based on IFSIPs thematic work programme that will support the IFSIP membership offer to its range of target audiences [login to view URL] contribute to the content planning process for IFSIP alongside all IFSIP colleagues [login to view URL] work with the Head of IFSIP to define the parameters for public and member only content [login to view URL] liaise with content developers and managers across the CIEH to harmonise/inform IFSIP content with their content plans [login to view URL] develop and implement content commissioning processes including standard terms and agreements – ensuring these are compatible with commissioning terms elsewhere in the organisation, particularly commercial services product development [login to view URL] with colleagues in the digital marketing/web development team to create publishing processes for the IFSIP website [login to view URL] lead on copyright issues including reproducing news articles from other sources and applying Crown Copyright appropriately Principal responsibilities •Working with the Head of IFSIP, create briefs for the content to be produced •Working with the Head and other colleagues, identify writers •Contact writers, negotiate terms, deadlines, fees and contract agreements •Manage writers to deliver content on time and to brief •Copy edit to ensure a consistent voice •If possible edit content from a subject matter perspective, in conjunction with the Head of IFSIP •Liaise with the digital team to upload content to the website If this looks like a project you can do, please contact
