I have a database of invoices. There are cancelled invoices denoted by negative number in 'revenue' field. Remove pairs of records where 'Bill to Customer' value is the same and 'Revenue' values are the same, except that one revenue value is negative, the other is positive. In attached database you will see lines 59 and 60. These are an example pair that must be removed. The positive 'revenue' value is the original order, and the negative value is the cancelled order - same order, but cancelled. You will need to write some code in either Python or in Excel to match the criteria, and remove the records. Please include in your code a function to paste the removed records to a 2nd worksheet so I can review the removed records. Hope this makes sense. Need asap. Going away for 6 hrs but am attached dataset if you want to try your hand at the programming and submit results. I will award the project when I wake up. Hey Chris, I removed the duplicate lines for you. I wrote a script to check if the BtC values match and if the revenue is the negative of the other row. I optimized it so it doesn't take hours to run and you can quickly rerun it. I converted the xlsx to a csv file to precess them. I inserted both csv files into the original excel file so you don't have to do it. (I counted the lines, they match up with the original number, and checked the values. Everything seems right.) I have a university degree in economics and IT, and several decades of system design and programming, in the recent decade especially in Excel and VBA. I plan to complete the project via writing an Excel macro contained in a separate XLSM file. This approach makes further use of the macro very convenient by offering a Control sheet containing cells populated by the usual Open file and/or select folder dialogs to identify the current input and output files (or the folders containing them, as required by the job) and hosting command buttons and other controls if necessary. In my approach you'll have opportunity to consult details with me, to test pilot solutions if necessary in order to achieve an optimal final solution. Hi, I'm an expert and experienced Python programmer and I've worked on numerous similar project involving data analysis. I've already written a script to identify such pair of lines where the "Bill To Customer" and "Revenue" have the same value except for the fact that revenue values are inverse of each other. Few more example: Lines 8 & 52, 9 & 47, 11 & 37, 12 & 26, 13 & 19 etc. I also found that there are entries having one positive revenue and 2 negative revenues for example lines 8, 52 and 53.
