Design a Logo

I want creativity, I need a logo. Deliverable will be as described below: A symbol and two treatments with type. So that you are aware of the use of the symbol & type lockups to be designed under this project, when it is delivered I will pay to have it applied to a letterhead, envelope & business card, as well as an ebook template: Front/Back Cover, Table of Contents, Chapter Page, Page and sample photo and graph and chart templates with sample page layouts. The logo must work in b/w, spot and full colour at sizes from one about centimetre square to ten metres square. The symbol should work well at low and high resolutions and be CONCEPTUAL AND CLEVER. A visual joke, a shock, something that makes one stop, makes one pause. I do not just want a pretty picture, a photo or illustration, not the usual swoosh/circle or bits of clipart puked out with variations. I want a symbol, not a type treatment alone, but I also want two versions with a type treatment so that the symbol can accompany our company name, as well as stand alone. Roughs to be produced and available for review if asked in pencil, pen or similar. I want design to occur away from the constraints imposed by the tools available on computers. Education is not important to me, but neither are qualifications are bad. Except to the extent it proves you know the language and requirements of symbol desgin. Do not be inhibited by having or not having a degree or similar. If you do have the benefit of an education, or degree, evidence of same is welcome. Knowledge of colour theory, the history of design, etc., is a good thing. But refer to the top line if you are put off by this. Best of all would be evidence of the kind of creativity I want, evidence that you can produce arresting, unique and appropriate conceptual designs. The symbol will be developed and presented with and without the type lock up, but only in isolation for the first round or two. Lockups will include a horizontal and vertical arrangement, so that it is applicable to a horizontally or vertically oriented medium. Once design is complete I require documented standards for using the symbol alone, in both the vertical and horizontal lockups, with clear specifications for spacing within and around the symbol and lockups in all versions. For the symbol the final work product will also include complete colour specifications, for print in black and white, grey (any halftones used), spot colour (Pantone is my preference by Toyo or any similar widely available spot colour system) colour numbers or identifiers, as well as CMYK mixes for four colour printing, and RGB for transmissive display use. The project would be in phases and should be priced as such. I had to put a price down but I do not have set idea for price, but I want a fixed price. I want bids and this system does not seem to allow it - first time here. You should plan on developing a very large number of roughs using pencils or similar, not digital. And presenting as many of those as you like and feel it is appropriate to present. I want you to propose and define the creative and review process, one that you are comfortable with and believe or know that provides enough variety as is appropriate for me to choose from while keeping the process efficient and manageable with clear steps for review and approval I founded and built a large interactive agency focussed on high tech in Silicon Valley, over ten years and up to 32 employees at my peak. So I know what I am doing and will not be a nightmare to work with. However I will not suffer fools either. By which I mean a fake without creativity or someone who decides to take a flyer at this project on the off chance. . Of which, creativity appropriately used is what I am looking for, not marketing speak, organisational skills or buzzwords and bullshit. I will take a flaky creative person over an organised one with good presentation skills any day. On the other had I want to feel good about my project getting done on time and without too much drama and shouting. First phase will be be presentation of rough symbol concepts. From there selection of three for more development based on clear, written input from me. One design will be selected from those three for further refinement again based on written input. Final design then delivered. From there the print collateral will be developed in a similar manner. Three designs presented, one selected with directions for refinement, and a final round of minor edits before approval. Symbols for review should be presented in b/w, spot colour (pantone or similar) and full colour, unless the colour shift is insignificant.
