Greetings!
I have 6 year experience working and developing under (k)ubuntu.
First off all lets specify exactly the meaning of words "medium level of security".
Maybe you'd be interesting in the approach I use on my installation of system:
- encrypted Documents folder in home directory where I keep all matter files
- another folders that should be secure are kept also in that Documents folder: it is regarding mail, Firefox passwords etc
- I use Dropbox to keep a backup, but files are kept on the cloud encrypted too
- another bigger folders that are also secure are mounted using the passwords kept under Documents secure folder
- my login password is used for the encryption, so all I need to get access to all my information - just to login, if to switch on my PC and login with another user - no way to read anything in my folders
- I don't care about another files/folders like videos, music, linux packages etc.
So, I always sure that:
- if my PC will be damaged then I'll have possibility to restore the data to another one
- if my laptop will be stolen then nobody will able to read the files I'd like to keep secure
However, there are lot more possibilities and options in linux, so please feel free to specify your needs and expectations before grating the work to me.
Looking forward for further contacts.
Regards,
Sergey
