We are trying to launch a new magento store, and unfortunately our developer had a personal problem that prevented him from completing the project. The work is about 90% complete, but requires a few custom enhancements, skin/theme tweaks, and connections to [login to view URL], google checkout, and paypal.
As for the enhancements:
The first is fairly simple. We have tabs on the product detail page and the content is entered via the backend admin panel. We would like one of the tabs (more info) to be hidden if there is no content entered in the admin. Our developer already produced something, but it as it has a character limit. We need to either remove the character limit or reprogram the entire thing so that the limit is not there..
The second is also not too difficult, but is more complicated to explain. As you know, Magento uses static blocks to call specific content into a page. These blocks use an identifier within the block metadata that is referenced by the page at render time.
As I understand it, the out of the box install of Magento let's you add static blocks pretty much to any targeted page. So the home page or a category page is fine. However, there are catalog pages that are dynamically generated when the user navigates (or filters if you prefer) attribute values within the layered navigation.
It seems that these pages can have static block in the header, but i believe the blocks are somehow contained within the category parameter.
In other words, if a user selects different attribute values, they will see different products displayed in the catalog page, but the static block at the top will remain the same.
We need the block to change based on the attribute values a user selects.
However, there are some small but important details to understand about this request. Let's assume we have two static blocks, block A and block B.
If a user selects women's > color-red, we would like the php page to reference block A based on it identifier. However, if a user selects women's > color-red > metal-gold, and there is no block designated to this combination attribute value combination, the system should default back to the last possible combination where a block match exists: block A.
If the user selects women's > color-blue, and we designate block B for this, then the system should display block B.
Make sense?
Our developer also tried to program this, but it's buggy. I think he hard coded the attribute values rather than use what we add in the admin panel. Also, it doesn't default back to a preceding value as I've described. So either it needs to be fixed or completely rewritten.
