Hi guys, I have a concept idea which I would like to know if it's possible to design and build. For cinema cameras, some use a CFast 2.0 card as their memory card to store the film. These cards are extremely expensive, so I'd like to find an alternative. Is there any way to design and implement a different technology such as an M.2 card (SATA III interface) in the shape of a CFast card so it would fit in the camera and provide a SATA III speed high capacity card? Alternatively, if that is not possible, I'd like to consider a CFast breakout device which fits into the CFast card slot and protrudes cables to an adapter which connects to and houses an M.2 card. I'm looking for a very small device that can be attached to the side of the camera, maybe with velcro, that is small, light and discreet. Some cameras have two CFast slots so if two of these devices are used, they could both be attached in a tidy way.
In the photo is a CFast breakout cable that leads to a SATA connector so that SSD drives can be used. But I'm looking for something that is either going to fit inside the cfast slot or outside it with a very small form-factor. Two SSD drives and their cage are quite big.
I am not wealthy, so this has to be done quite cheaply. If this device is possible and marketable, I would also like to offer you a percentage of all sales.
Some replies about whether it's possible are very welcome, and some bids. I'll take on board everything that happens here and will plan it and get together the required funding, if it's not out of my budget. Then I'll get back in touch with you in the near future to get the ball rolling.
