I am developing an Arduino based microcontroller board that will be added to an existing electronic device. It connects to two TTL serial ports, one computer serial port and will also broadcast data by bluetooth.
There are two options for development of this PCB. Option 1 is much easier than option 2. I prefer Option 2 if it is feasible and I am willing to pay more for Option 2 if it can be done. Freelancers may quote on just one option or on both.
OPTION 1.
A PCB shield is required that will plug onto an Arduino Mega or a Seeduino Mega. This project is to provide design files including gerber files that can be sent to a PCB manufacturer to make the shield.
Photographs of a working prototype that has been soldered by hand are attached to the project.
The shield should not be larger than the footprint of a Seeduino Mega.
The shield has 3 jumper connectors (J1, J2 and J3). J1 and J2 are 4 pin male jumpers. J3 is 3 pin male. All jumpers must lay horizontally on the board to minimise total device height.
The shield uses only the power, ground and 4 serial ports of the Mega. It does not connect to any of the digitial or analog I/O pins. Note that the Seeeduino Mega and Arduino Mega boards have exactly the same footprint for these particular pins.
Jumpers:
J1
pin1 - connects to RX3 on MEGA
pin2 - TX3
pin3 - GND
pin4 - 12volt input connects to VIN on MEGA and also to pin4 of J2.
J2
pin1 - TX2
pin2 - RX2
pin3 - GND
pin4 - 12volt connects to J1 pin4.
J3 (connects to computer serial port)
pin1 - ground of MAX3232 board (-ve pin on RS232 side)
pin2 - input of MAX3232 board (RX pin on RS232 side)
pin3 - output of MAX3232 board (TX pin on RS232 side)
MAX3232 board TTL side
pin1 (TX) - connects to RX1 on MEGA
pin2 (RX) - TX1
pin3 (+) - 5V of MEGA
pin4 (-) - GND
For Bluetooth I have use the JY-MCU board. It has 4 input pins.
pin1 (VCC) - connects to 3V3 on MEGA
pin2 (GND) - GND
pin3 (TX) - RX4 and pullup resistor to 3V3
pin4 (RX) - use voltage divider to drop from 5V to 3.3V from TX4.
OPTION 2.
This is an all-in-one PCB that uses the ATMEGA2560 just like an Arduino Mega but has all the features of Option 1 but built into just one board. That is, it has the four jumper connectors plus bluetooth and Max3232 on the board. The board must use the smallest practical footprint. The design must produce files suitable for PCB manufacture including populating the board with components.
