Some additional info I need: - are all 500 directories placed in one directory? - am I understand it correctly (?): input: master_dir dir1 file1, file2, file3 dir2 file1,file2, .... output: output_dir file1 (merged files from dir 1) file2 (merged files from dir 2) What naming convention should be used? I thing best strategy is to name output files based on input directiories, but you can have differrent demands.
