We need a set of PHP files and desktop software that allow migrating old shopping cart to an OSCommerce shopping cart. The way we want to go about this is to use a combination of PHP files on the server hosting the OSCommerce and a desktop program.
The desktop program preferably in VB, will import a csv file that has been exported from the current cart.
We allow the user to choose which categories to upload into the OSCommerce. So it will show a list of all the categories with a check box next to them. With the usual “select all/select none?? button. We then connect to our PHP files on the server (where the new cart is located) and create a set of new categories. We then query the server for the new category ID numbers.
Since OSCommerce uses an auto number category field, we need to upload the current categories first to the OSCommerce database, and then retrieve the category list back with their numbers. At this point we have a set of matching new and old category ID numbers. We now need to import the products into our program. Assign the new category numbers to them, and upload them to the server again using PHP files.
We now should have imported the old shopping cart items into the new shopping cart with correct new category numbers, and products belonging to the correct categories.
