custom file format read and write interface (python based)(repost)

I've a PDF with specification of a file format.

I'm searching for a python module which can read from files in that format and show the data inside the file in a easy to use for upper levels.

On the other side, it may be possible to create a record from scratch.

The format definition is:

a file is a single RECORD, every record is made by some SECTIONs.

Every section has a HEADER and after exposes some data defined in the PDF.

The choice will be made on how you propose the interface for the implementation (just sample code/function names )

All error/warning must raise an exception

I could provide sample files on request.

for any doubt, feel free to ask.

Note: for performance issues, we need the CRC function to have a look-up table, and not use the CRC algorithm provided in the PDF.
