Database / API Design For Mobile App

Pen Pals ([login to view URL]), a social networking app for iOS and Android, is looking for a freelance, expert python Developer to help build the backend for the new version of our app.

Pen Pals connects users all over the world via text, photo and audio messages. Pen Pals v1.0 has already been featured on the front page of Apple's App Store worldwide. Version 2.0 of Pen Pals is a complete rebuild of our app from the ground up.

You will be architecting and developing a (well-documented) social network, with high-availability and high-scalability. This includes, social/email logins, profiles, interests, friend requests/adds/blocks, text/audio/picture messages, scoring system, likes, activity feed, push (via Parse API), etc.

Fluency in Python 2.5+ and experience of building or contributing to large Django web applications a must.

A solid understanding of RESTful web services and experience developing a REST API for iOS, Android and Whiteboxes.

Experience working on cost-effective, high-availability and highly-scalable systems (AWS ninja)

Experience of test-driven development

Experience developing and tuning PostgreSQL

Experience working with Git

Experience in new or emerging platforms such as iOS and Android
