Hi, I'm Delphi/C++ expert with more than 15 years of experience especially in file managers and file utilities (take a look at my portfolio for SysNav file manager). One note about Delphi, it cannot generate Linux executables but Linux part could be done in FPC (freeware and basically same as Delphi) . Do you have some more details for project, do servers share LAN or they're totally independent, do you need some GUI (file manager) to select which files to copy etc.

Hi i have done combined web services to work on windows and Open SUSE , In your case you want to transfer files. Please define Linux OS you are going to use. If you want to use multipal Linux OS type to be work on then it will be more complected in development process. ezy step is start with windows and one type of Linux OS and then think about make it work on Other type of Linux OS. I will be able to give you working out put in 2 to 3 days. give me a chance to work o it and after two days award me the project , you can pay me completely on end of project no need of milestone. Hi... if you want to make the service to run in both Windows and Linux, you can't use Visual Studio nor Delphi... my choice is to use Lazarus and FreePascal... My proposal for the API command for copying file is to use line based socket connection protocol, resembles HTTP protocol, in my opinion that is the easiest and fastest to implement... I hope we can discuss more clear specification before the project begin

Dear employer, I'm a 10 years Delphi programmer with multiple industry experiences from Sheet metal manufacturer, Touch Screen Kiosk Terminal developer, Industrial and Consumer Electrical Meter Management software and Financial Market data terminal and charting industry. I see that your project is a very interesting which I understand that you want a service application that runs in multiple servers with multiple kind of operating system such as Windows or Linux. This service can be instructed to do file operation between servers through the service itself through simple socket API. In my humble opinion, VisualStudio or Delphi can't compile application for Linux, but it can be developed using Free Pascal Compiler & Lazarus (LFPC, a cross platform pascal IDE and compiler which similar to Delphi). My plan is developing a service application using LFPC, open a socket connection to receive commands from other application (such as your other softwares from other network), and do the instructed file operation from one application service through the other application service through socket connection. For maintaining the transfer speed and stability, I can use a single socket connection and file transfer queue. I can also give you a simple client application to test the file transfer. Visual Studio will not do for Linux, or did I miss somethig? I have a small service that copies files between Linux, Mac OS, and Windows. C++ / QT Code. Compiles on LLVM on Mac, Visual Studio on Windows. Need to add copy time, reporting and optimize for big file sizes.
