We are a Sydney based company and are looking for a responsible project manager who can work with us for the next 4 months to turn our business upside down, and inside out. We have been running the company for more than 5 years now and have found that we need someone who can streamline our project management system to work well with some full-time administrative staff, some full time coders and designers, and also some outsourced development centres. At the moment, we have downsized our company to have a few core team members who work on some key projects followed by some major development centres. We need someone who is tough, motivated, responsible, loves working online and can handle pressure when it arises. IN this contract you will have the pleasure of seeing a company change from a very rigid model of development and move it to a company that is scaleable in staff and resources depending on the needs. To suit this role you will need the following skills * Ability to liaise with multiple development centres and manage projects * Good understanding of online project management technology and also apply this as your bible. * Use the terms milestones, dates, costs, timeline, scope - we are after a project manager who knows the technicalities of web development * Have worked with multiple countries and developers and designers * Is able to empower his core team and elevate them into greater roles. * Able to liaise with stakeholders of the projects * Produces weekly and daily reports for projects that are informative If you wish to apply for this role, please note that this is a role for someone who is willing to take a great amount of responsibility and wants to see a company change into one that is dynamic and cutting edge. I have managed the development of a commercial software product in exactly the method you have described, As the scrum manager, and using Agile Scrum methodology I co-ordinate the development of several components of a commercial software package. There were pure Web components, desktop components and mobile components all developed by different teams. The teams where located in Philadelphia, Norway, India, Toronto and Los Angeles. I was responsible with the development of the "sprint" milestones, in co-ordination with the product stakeholders (owners). I used JiRI and Grasshopper to manage the project with SVN. I have also used redMine to manage project development successfully. The project was ongoing and as such I managed the QA of various releases during the processes. A new release needed extensive testing and had to have all the necessary database updating scripts to make sure all clients could migrate with no issues. I am a perfectionist. I accept nothing short of perfect results. I help many organizations (ranging from small to huge) build their project management methodology and PMO. What you need is a specialist to help you build a solid PM framework for your organization and coach and mentor your staff to apply it until you reach the level of competency that you desire. The approach would be as follows: 1. Assess the current situation and desired level 2. Recommend a framework 3. Work with your nominated staff to build the framework 4. Transfer knowledge to your PMO staff 5. Coach and mentor your project staff to apply the new framework Please note that whoever tells you that they can build a PM framework for you in less than 4 month is not being honest with you. I speak from experience. The minimum amount needed to lay the foundation for a Project Management Framework is 2 months, after which you need an implementation period with close followup, guidance and coaching or you will not achieve the desired results. I am a process improvement engineer and engagement manager, who has worked across a variety of industries that include IT. I am of an industrial engineering background, along with Lean and six sigma experience. The combination of these credentials along with nearly 20 years of practical project experience serve as solid foundation for reengineering a process/functional group, such as you have briefly described. I would begin with a thorough understanding and mapping of the current process(es), and identification of the current strengths and weaknesses. Understand the customer requirements (internal & external customers) of the processes. Compile any necessary analytics. Then, in a collaborative manner, I would begin to design new processes & methods, along with proper measures/metrics to monitor improvement, and further identify opportunities. I am not sure if you are considering foreigners, as I am based in the US. However, I would be willing to travel as needed, and/or work remotely to limit expenses. Off the top of my head - this could probably be accomplished with 2-3 visits. Or, I am flexible to be on site for the bulk of the assignment. I will work within the confines/desires of your team.
