Delphi & Firebird app moved to online hosting

Hi there ^^ I'm delphi coder actually I used to deal with simillar jobs just like the one you have mentioned ^^ well I used to code database driven applications using the latest engines supported by delphi like IBDAC,UNIDAC,FIREDAC,ZEOS,ODBC and so forth ^^ working with most common RDBMS like SQLSERVER,SQLITE,ACCESS,MYSQL,FIREBIRD,POSTGRE and so forth ^^ actually firebird comes with server and client editions ^^ so we can put the databas in one single storage that is available and then confiure the connection component so that it will access to that db via IP , or we can manage other stuffs ^^ anyway provide me with more info and I will do my best ^^ best regards

Hi. I have lot experience in Delphi and Databases. I guess the fastest way to achieve your goals is to build an ISAPI Dll app for a web server. Later you can Add/modify/Delete records in your Firebird DB I have done this before many times. WEb service would be a more elegante solution, but it will take more time. Best regards, Monillo

Hello, it's not easy problem. as you write your database was big. it has a lot of documents and need large transfer. simple solution is use rdp from windows. it's cheap and easy but not flexible. second solution is try build light client. this application has only few simple function. they don't connect directly to database but by webservice. This client can view some table or add some documents but it functionally was limited. every application connection to databases via Internet was very very dangerous. I will setup a debian instance with firebird sql on a hosting system of your choice, i would recommend scaleway - they have a 3 euro per month plan, that server should suffice your needs. I will migrate the data to that server, and check if remote connection is working I will modify the source code of your application, to connect to the static ip of the remote server If you have any questions or want to discuss this in further detail, please get in touch :)

Why you do not look at the one of the VPN solutions and provide direct access to you Database and other LAN serveices? Based to your answers, i will help you to solve the task.
