Creating BIM files for lighting fixtures

I'm not sure exactly how to bid on your project. I work for a mechanical contractor detailing BIM everyday and create and use components I assume are similar to what you'd like to create. These can be created as revit families, Autocad MEP equipment catalogs items or maybe both. We can use your SAT files or we can reduce the complexity of the componets (making them function better with in an autocad or revit enviroment). I typically charge $40 per hour or we can come up with a fixed cost per part or family. Similar components that might be grouped into a family can be completed rather quickly and dissimilar components will take quite a bit longer. You might also want to consider adding MEP connectors and clearance/access zones for your light fixtures. My bid is for one component at this time but we can reevaluate successive components once I fully understand your needs.

I've visited your site. You have 14 basic types of lighting fixtures and from 2 to 12 sub-types to each. The BIM files could be organised in 14 "wall based" and "ceiling based" families because they have a specific behavior. The Revit Families could have more or less parameters like the "length of the air craft cable/stem", the finishing material and color, the intensity of light (in lumens) and etc. So you have to decide what exactly you need to fit perfectly to your company policy. The BIM objects have to offer the desired options for architects (designers) and to deliver enough information been inserted in the model. This job need more specific knowledge out of regular and only a few freelancers could fulfill your requirements and expectations. To have a success with BIM files they have to be made in earlier release of Revit (probably Revit Architecture 2008) to provide all users with loadable families. There are a lot of BIM (esp. Revit) families, offered by different producers of building elements, fixtures, equipment etc., on the market but not all are good enough to be used in the design process. As an architect i think I know what is good family and what is not so good. So my offer is for 30 USD/h and "test work" for one lighting fixture before we continue in case you approve the sample. In conclusion with all my respect to the bidders I can say that 3 days for all this job is not a serious approach but you have a choice.
