We have a media converter which can send out Pelco D camera commands. These are hex values, 7 bytes in total. We need a Arduino Uno to listen for these commands on the serial port. And then convert the received command into a simple integer value.

So if it receives the Pelco D command for camera tilt up, it then gives the variable tilt a value of 1, if it is tilt down, a value of 2, and if no value is being received, a value of 0.

This is to be done for pan, tilt and zoom, and focus.

There is a byte assigned for pan and tilt speed, it would be useful to read this, and then adjust the tilt variable accordingly. So another example is when tilt is not receiving any commands it is set to 5, when it is commanded to go up at normal speed, it changes to 6, if it commands up at max speed it is 10, so that also works for down at max speed would be 0.

The above is to be a complete standalone piece of code.

We already have a code that does some actions according to the variable values. We just need a way to interprut the Pelco D hex commands on the serial RX0.
