I expect 1. The agent will run as a Microsoft Windows Server service a. It must not be delivered as an installer b. It must not require a reboot 2. The agent will accept an email address entry used to email the alert 3. The Agent will accept configuration of SMTP details to configure an outbound SMTP Server 4. The agent will access and read the security event viewer constantly or on a timed interval 5. The agent will accept up to 30 Security Event Codes with a specific description and will monitor for those specific Code numbers 6. When the agent matches a stored event code to the security event code in the event viewer, the agent will create an email alert and send the configured email address an alert which includes: a. A meaningful Subject line b. Security Event Code c. Extract from the event d. Time & Date of event e. Specific Description

The project is interesting to me, I've already done windows services in C#/.NET. Your requests are clear, but some details need to be better defined: - Need to scan old event or report only new ones? - Configuration is quite relevant (messages, IDs, etc..) on the overall work: file based/registry/...; Edit: manual/GUI/... - log/error reporting? - etc..
