I would like to make a list of the grocery's that come in to my house by scanning the barcode and entering some details like; name, expiry date, calories and maybe a picture. The idea is to have a database of all the stuff that is in my fridge and when it expires. So everytime i take something out of the fridge i will scan it so 1 item is deducted. It would also be very nice if i could scan the barcode with my phone. The barcode can then be submitted to a pc and it can search for it there. If this is possible (and most important not to expensive). If this all works fine i would like to make a second project that is a bit bigger. Using raspberry pi so i can make the whole thing a bit more user friendly. Let me know if you are interested and if you need more info!

Do you have some extra details about the steps for your system? I think we can do all in the raspberry, with the raspberry camera module for the pictures and a cheap usb barcode scanner but I need more info about the functionality

Hi, I am Laszlo Benke, from Hungary. I am an electrical engineer. I work as a C# and PLC developer. I am dealing with home-automation and RFID systems. I know the raspberry PI platform well. I made a home-automation system for myself. This can control the heating-water and air-conditioning and function as a burglar alarm system. You can control remotely, via mobile or web-browser. So I know the Raspbian (Debian Linux), Apache, PHP and Python technologies as well. Firstly we need to make a C#-SQL program that can store the barcodes data. Hi, I have worked on retail domain so have a good knowledge of items, inventory, sales i need to ask you 1. Does your mobile have barcode scanner? If yes then which mobile you are using. 2. I can provide you application in android based phone. 3. If your mobile is not having barcode then you can scan the barcode with camera and you can do rest of process. 4. only problem is that its taking some time in scanning. I do have a ready solution for android, need to modify as per your need. Please reply em so that i can share you my camera based barcode reading application for android. Regards, Rajnish
