I need to add a database connection to my vb6 desktop application for commercial distribution. I would like it to connect to my database through a php file both of which are loaded on my Godaddy server. My domain has an SSL certificate and therefore is a "HTTPS" secure site. The old vb6 components like Winsock don't work on HTTPS sites. What I want to accomplish is : I need my vb6 application to send a query to my database and receive a url back to my application or open the user's browser to a url based on information retrieved from the database. I need to be able to alter, from time to time, the url that is returned from the database and therefore control the destination url that my users will see. If this cannot be written in vb6 then I am open to saving the data to a file that can be opened by my vb6 application if that is necessary.

Hello About connecting to HTTPS, it's easy to solve with Windows API (import function from Windows DLL, you do not have to worry about DLL is present on OS,. it's present because of part of Windows OS. Since old Windows 2000)

Hello, I am very confident that I can do your project. I think it is possible to accomplish this task. As you mentioned in project's description, steps could be like following: 1) Your VB6 program sends request to URL of your web-server (hosted on GoDaddy) with PHP file. 2) PHP file will access back-end MySQL and output desired URL as result 3) VB6 program will capture that resultant URL 4) VB6 program will open resultant URL in user's default web-browser However, we have to keep in mind that VB6 is an old technology. More than 20 years old. If for some reason, we get into some hurdle that VB6 can't properly access your web-server, then I can write program in either C++ or Delphi/Pascal or any other language which can be middle-man between VB6 and your web-server. In that case, steps will be as following: 1) Your VB6 program sends request to invisible middle-man program (probably written in C++ etc) 2) Middle-man program will send request to URL of your web-server (hosted on GoDaddy) with PHP file. 3) PHP file will access back-end MySQL and output desired URL as result 4) Middle-man program will capture that resultant URL 5) Middle-man program will silently give that resultant URL to your VB6 program 6) VB6 program will open resultant URL in user's default web-browser I have working VB6 (with SP6) in my computer.
