Hello. I can develop the unit sales forecast with highest level of certainty. Forecasting sales was my full-time job at HP the last four years before I left to start my freelancing career. I have twenty years’ experience in data analytics, including predictive analytics, finance, and analytics software startup. All forecasts are inherently wrong since nobody can project the future with 100% accuracy. So, I have always used a mix of science (quantitative algorithms) and art (business knowledge) to maximize the level of certainty. The algorithmic approach will depend on your historic data, but I would most likely use exponential smoothing. Sales for each product-customer combination would be forecasted independently if there is a rich historic data set; otherwise they would be forecasted in a staged approach. In addition to the forecasting spreadsheet, I would deliver clean spreadsheet design with charts and documentation of the forecasting methodology. The project can be completed within 2 business days after receiving all relevant historic data and business knowledge input.
