4 designers with ambitions

If you are a creative graphic designer who would like to be recognized as the rightful author of your work, you may have been waiting for this chance. I am planning a branding/graphic design business where designers have face, name and style. Your profile/bio/gallery, on the company website where, by the way, you can showcase ANY of your creative work, what you really like to do. Your name will always be mentioned to clients. Your 'signature', designer mark, or initials embedded in your work (so that it can be seen once you know is there) and you, as designer, promoted by the company marketing plan. For the financial aspect we will keep using freelancer.com for the foreseeable future, just because it is easy and safe for everybody. The business (brand) will be promoted as a 'design studio' producing awesomely creative, market effective, branding work (almost vanguard) while, at the same time, supporting and promoting designers who may not have the means (money), or the marketing skills, necessary to increase the visibility of their personal brand and make a name for themselves. In exchange for this exposure (my marketing work) all you (the designer) has to do is allow the site to display samples of your work. I firmly believe in this as being the right formula for a business collaboration with designers because in this way both gain respect and recognition. --- OK, so far this proposal looks pretty good, right? Generating income for both of us and giving you the recognition you deserve, plus free personal brand promotion. As with all budding businesses though at the beginning it is necessary to be approachable (a.k.a affordable), which means settling for minimal profit until business picks up in volume enough to fill the office hours, then prices may start growing and gradually reach normal, or above normal, levels of profit. Following the spirit of fairness which inspired me to dream of a business where Designers will be happy to work, I have come up with a different internal pricing structure... The amount paid by the Client is divided equally among all designers, me and the company (for marketing & expenses) Practical example: New business branding. Client pays $1000. (just to use an easy number for the example) Designer 1 $200 Designer 2 $200 Designer 3 $200 Myself 4 $200 Company 5 $200 (marketing & expenses) 1. All designers (3 at the beginning) work on every project/order received. (Giving initial alternative choices to the Client) 2. Everybody gets paid !!! for each project. (here on FreeLancer.com) 3. The author of the work chosen by the Client will receive additional promotion as the project 'case study' get published on the website blog post. Basically there are two ways to look at this collaboration: 1. You are getting additional work and income. or 2. you are getting additional work and income, personal brand promotion (which usually leads to more work), while you are also helping a 'cause' aimed at improving designers hiring conditions. The business mission statement on the 'about us' page will talk about this. -------- In conclusion; if you are interested let me know how low can you go with the price. No matter what the client order we will always produce logo, business card and letterhead (over-delivering to impress the client). And please remember that the objective, the goal, is not to make money with this one project, but to empower me to generate enough sales volume (sell enough) to be able to give you one project every day! Another way to look at it is this: Next month what would you prefer, one $300 project or twenty $30 projects ? If you want to be part of this make sure that your portfolio is telling your story well enough.
