The project scope is to develop software to safely interface with Scoreboard who's supplier is no longer in business but has released the protocol for reading it's data. The interface used to communicate to/from the board is RS-485 and we have purchased a USB to RS-485 adapter but require some tools be developed to read the data, parse it and either display it or push the data to a key server like redis. The successful contractor will have extensive serial protocol experience and full understanding of what is required for interfacing with data on a RS-485 network so as to not affect the existing communications used in the normal operations of the scoreboard.

Relevant Skills and Experience Please read thru my profile. Proposed Milestones $1000 CAD - Cost to be confirmed, once exact work load is determined. 1) Will we have access to the hardware or PC connected to the device with the RS-485 port on it? 2) Can I take a look at the protocol spec for the RS-485 port?
