We have a Wordpress site (fully up to date) runnng on a managed server with WHM/cPanel.
Over the last couple of weeks the site has been using significant bandwidth (a few GB per day) which is causing the site to hit limits and repeatedly go offline.
We have identified the problem to be as follows:
Upon checking the bandwidth usage on this account via Awstats I see the "Not viewed traffic" for this month is 22.16 GB (For Aug it was 7.61 GB). The "Not viewed traffic" includes traffic generated by robots, worms, or replies with special HTTP status codes. You need to check with your developer to block the unwanted bots/spiders etc via .htaccess or [login to view URL] file.
Looking further at Robots/Spiders visitors (Top 25) I can see the "Firefox version 10 and lower - various robots" is responsible for the excessive bandwidth usage :
Firefox version 10 and lower - various robots 290,593 20.47 GB 21 Sep 2019 - 20:05
We're loooking for someone to be able to investigate this and remedy the issue as per the above.
