Model and optimize an ocean-wave energy converter in MATLAB Simulink

I am trying to simulate an energy conversion system (or Power Take-Off; PTO) that will be placed on a scale model of a Wave Energy Conversion device (WEC). The part to be modeled at first is a simply rack-and-pinion, that translates linear motion into rotational motion, and then drives a permanent magnet asynchronous generator (with some gearing and a flywheel).

Force is only provided to the system during one direction of the movement of the rack, and therefore a flywheel is used to smooth out the power (i.e. maintain angular momentum).

The ideal candidate would be experienced in Simulink and have experience of power optimization and storage in renewable energy projects.
