I would like to release my courses on multiple platforms using PhoneGap. My courses currently consist of videos (MP4 format, but can output to others as well), PDF exercise files (can be converted to HTML), and downloadable ZIP files with code / resources. The material is currently wrapped up into an HTML web site which students download and use locally on their PCs. Each course contains roughly 900 MB to 1.4 GB of material.
I would like to wrap this material up into a PhoneGap application and release it to:
iTunes (iPad / iPhone)
Google Play (Android App)
Blackberry Market
Windows 8 MarketPlace (Phone and Desktop store).
What I am looking for is for someone to get me started with this work. I am an experienced web developer, but have never worked with PhoneGap, and at present don't have a great deal of time to spend on experimentation. I would like someone to build the initial interface, navigation, and convert one or two of my lessons into the application. I'd like a recommendation on video format, UI, and how best to handle my material on these types of devices. The lessons you put together for me will serve as a blueprint for the rest of the material that I'll convert and add to the applications myself. I would like it to work well on tablets (iPads / Android variants), as well as smaller devices, such as phones. There's also a challenge with the download size being 900 MB+. I'd like recommendations for dealing with that as well without having to host the file son the web. I'd like the users to be able to use the course offline, without the need for a connection. I am interested in using the Adobe PhoneGap Build to create the various releases that I need, and would like to understand that process a bit better as well.
Again, this project is more about getting me started, and providing me with some recommendations than to actually do the work.
Please contact me with any questions.
