We have a Browser Helper Object written in C++ that links into Internet Explorerand creates a simple button. Everything works as expected in Internet Explorer on Windows XP, 2000 etc except for the occasional Vista user. I have been unable to replicate the bug using a Virtual PC image of Vista and I have not seen it on any other platform (in fact, I have not seen it at all). Apparently the bug manifests itself by the toolbar/button not being able to be made visible at all when manually selecting the correct Toolbar entry on the Toolbars menu. This looks like a Protected Mode issue but when turning Protected Mode off, it still happens. I have also tried under an admin account and limited account but cannot reproduce it. Your job is to; a) Reproduce the issue b) Describe why it happens and provide a fix. The BHO DLL is included here for anyone who wants to see if they reproduce the problem. I have one user who has this problem but I don't have access to their machine. I can test any fixes by emailing them.
