We need an application that makes it very easy for non-techie end-users to create floorplans of their house. We will provide the application with a list of the room names and types, and there will be predefined assumptions about size and shapes of each type of room. The user can select a room from the list using arrows and enter (an i/r remote actually), and the default shape of that room is added to the floorplan. The user can select it to pick an alternate shape, and to resize it, stretch it, rotate it, color it, or move it. There will be about 10 different room types, and about 10 different shapes for each room type (we will provide all of them). Obviously this not a tool for creating professional floorplans and will be be completely accurate. The goal is just that a typical end-user will be able to create a general, approximate representation of his home's floorplan on a set-top box using only a basic up/down/left/right/enter remote. The box will be running Linux 2.6, and the application should also run on Windows. We presently use SDL and WXWidgets a lot since they are cross platform.
