Manual transcription of business cards
$30-40 USD

I just got back from Ad:Tech 05 Chicago, and have lots of business cards! :-) I need you to manually transcribe every piece of data from every card into a simple spreadsheet. I will give you the template for the spreadsheet. This is a *manual* job; you probably will get little or no utility from using an OCR program (and if you do, I *insist* that you review everything by hand, anyway).
## Deliverables
There are no more than 50 cards to be processed, in two batches. My best guess is that this will take you no more than four hours, but that's entirely up to you.
The cards will be scanned into TIFF format (.tif) files; you *must* have a program which is able to read these, including the ability to reach multiple pages from each file. (That's the main reason why we use this format.) I think [url removed, login to view]'s free reader program supports this if you don't already have something else. You may also find it very helpful to be able to zoom in on these images!
**The job is a thankless one**; please know this in advance! Many of the cards from advertising agencies are produced by designers who want to show how cool they are, rather than communicate clearly. You will encounter several cases of poor color contrast, e.g., light blue on light grey, and microdot-sized fonts. (I will scan these with as much resolution as possible, which means that the files will be enormous.) Some cases will have data on the card's back, which I will try to send on separate scans, with designations. The other main problem is that I need you to accurately capture my handwritten notes, which typically consist of a few words per card, like, "pub" or "client". I do my best to write clearly, but these conferences have very crowded exhibit hall floors, (with pushy people), which makes it difficult. The cards are also sometimes printed on very-high-gloss cardstock, which makes writing on them near impossible.
You must have a PGP (or compatible) program. All data will be transmitted in a PGP-encrypted form, and we expect you to do the same. Bidders will be expected to provide their PGP public key, either when you bid (if you feel comfortable doing so) or when you win.
You will be expected to sign our non-disclosure agreement (NDA) (*and follow it!*) upon winning this project; we will be transmitting our sensitive corporate data, as will you. You can actually sign the NDA using PGP, :-) as this is now legally binding, as per the US Federal Electronic Signatures in Global and National (ESIGN) Commerce Act of 2000. If you are not prepared to do this, please don't bid.
Deliverables: Two Excel format (.xls) spreadsheets, one from each batch.
All data is and becomes our intellectual property!
**Thank you for your consideration and for bidding through RentACoder!**
