I'm looking for a developer to create an online game to teach cryptography history, cryptanalysis, as well as teach the players about modern ciphers, and cryptographic applications. I'd really like it if the developer would break this up into 3 or 4 different games, but I'll leave it up to the developer’s judgment. I’d really like this game to take a person with a little or no cryptographic experience and by the completion of the games give them a solid foundation in cryptology without going too deep into really complex math.
I’d like the player to progress through several levels learning about the cipher for that particular level, and then be required to decrypt a message, crack a hash, or perform some other cryptographic challenge to complete each level. I’ve got plenty of potential source materials (.pdf files) that I can give to the developer to use in curriculum development as well as the initial game outline that I was working on. You are not required to follow the outline that I wrote for the game though. I’m really looking for some serious developer creativity here so I’m willing to give the developer a lot of creative freedom as long as I can be guaranteed that I will get a really good product. I don't care if the application is written in flash/shockwave/java or whatever as long as it is a visually appealing interface.
Please keep in mind that I’d like the games to be fun, and actually use or simulate using some real password cracking programs like John The Ripper, Hydra, pwdump, and WebCracker, and new things in cryptography like stego. I'm willing to provide source materials to the developer if needed. I will help with this project as much as I can. Please respond, and let me know if you are interested in this project
