This project involves custom moifying the firmware update file for my Sony F828 digital camera. By default, the camera allows "nightshot" (infrared photography) to be used only in the automatic setting mode, and disables it for any of the modes (A, S, M) that allow manual aperature and shutter settings. I am looking to have my camera's firmware update file modified such that the restriction on "nightshot" mode is removed from the manual shooting modes.
If you trace the history back, this restriction is likely based on the fact that infrared photography can supposedly detect heat sources through clothing, and Sony presumably doesn't want pro-sumer level photographers taking "risky" photos. Unfortunately, for shooting infrared landscape shots (very beautiful), this restriction removes a lot of the camera's potential. Film photographers have been shooting infrared on 35mm for decades, with some breathtaking results.
Also worth noting, is that the current F828 firmware is at version 2. In order for my camera to recognize this customization as an update, it will likely need to be presented as version "3".
## Deliverables
1) Complete and fully-functional working firmware update for my Sony F828 as well as complete source code of all work done.
2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables):
a) The firmware update must be installable on the camera via the standard method for updating the camera's firmware.
b) The firmware must in no way remove or limit any of the camera's standard functionality.
3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement).
