I am in need of a script which takes a PDF file containing 2 different types of labels, copies each of the labels from the PDF file, and then prints them off on a 4”x6” label using my Zebra thermal printer. Once the labels are converted from the PDF and printed using the thermal printer, the script would then delete the original PDF file. The file location of the PDF file will always be the same. Sometimes the PDF file will be 1 page long, sometimes it will be many.
Each single page of the PDF will always contain 2 labels, a shipping label and an identification label. The order in which the labels will need to be printed from the thermal printer will be shipping label, and then identification label. If the PDF file is 1 page long, it will print in the order: Shipping Label (1), Identification Label (1). If the PDF file is 2 pages long, it will print in the order: Shipping Label (1), Identification Label (1), Shipping Label (2), Identification Label (2). If the PDF file is 3 pages long, it will print in the order: Shipping Label (1), Identification Label (1), Shipping Label (2), Identification Label (2), Shipping Label (3), Identification Label (3). And so on.
I have included 2 Examples of PDF files, one with 1 page, and other with 2. There should be no limit to the amount of pages within the PDF file that this script can handle. I have also created examples of how the labels should appear after being printed on the 4”x6” thermal label, using the Zebra laser printer (model gk420d).
This script should use an accompanying txt file to pull the variables to run from (PDF File Location, and Printer Name). I do not have a strong preference as to what language the script can be in, PHP, Java, etc.)
So just to sum up the functions of this script... Take a PDF with a variable number of pages, print the 2 labels per each page of the pdf using 4”x 6" labels on an installed thermal printer, and then delete the PDF file.
