Our old website has data cards displaying information about a total of 12,000 publications (magazines, subscription boxes, etc.) in a few hundred categories (some publications have several categories). You can see them here: [login to view URL]
We will need this integrated into our new WordPress website to seamlessly pull in all this information from the external database, which is constantly getting larger and entries are updated through an external software solution.
Our current developer suggests the following:
"The current API is a bit primitive as I only completed a proof of concept that pulled in a listing of data cards through the WP JSON plugin you suggested on a remote site. A developer can connect remotely to our database and pull the needed information bypassing the need to develop dedicated APIs. This will probably be faster and more flexible in the long run. I can give him all the credentials and the existing php code that pulls the various listings and data card details."
Once the data can be pulled into WordPress, we will need a white-labeled plugin developed, that displays the data cards on the new site. Our idea for that would be an AJAX search bar in the centre, that will auto complete the users entry. Furthermore there should be filters (by category or different demographics). The search will have to work well with titles, but also keywords, so that for example as a client looking for publications in the fishing community I would just type in “Fishing” and all relevant publications come up. If I type in “American angler” only that one magazine comes up.
We would need this project completed by the end of May and offer the opportunity for future development jobs, if satisfied. Good communication skills in English are essential! We are one of the leading Media Agencies in London with offices across the UK, USA, Germany, Ireland, France and China.
