I ready your requirement about update site from 2.5 to latest joomla version. in this we have to many things first need to clear. 1) you made any custom change in core joomla file? 2) you use any 3rd party component, module or plugin in site if yes then make sure it's latest version available and compatible for latest joomla or not. 3) regarding gatry we upgrade but those joomla 2.5 template are not totally responsive in latest joomla. 4) how much article and data are store in your site?
