I am developing a web and mobile platform and want to use an open source video player to play videos. However, it needs customization so additional features and functionality can be integrated. The player will be integrated into a laravel application, and videos will be hosted and transcoded with AWS. I have short listed my options to [login to view URL], JW Player, and plyr.io. The features required include: * Skip forward/backward * Chapter/content markers and description * Responsive design for various displays and devices * Cast to device (i.e., chromecast) * Add to favourites * Auto play next video (will be based on playlists) * Loop feature (dynamic (i.e., slider) select segment of video to loop) * User can bookmark a spot of the video and make a note (i.e. like udemy or audible). This is a key function to include. See attached for sample images. When integrated into website, the bookmark and comment can be saved in the database * Playback speed * Theme customization * Video quality selector (i.e., 480, 780, etc) * Play/Pause. User can click anywhere on screen to play/pause * Progress tracking and sync among devices * Metadata and tag attributes. Interested in dynamic tags/meta data whereby I can add tags/markers at various marks of the video playback. This will be designed for search functionality. For example, “bob” tagged at 6:43min of video. * Reporting and analytics. For discussion but will be required. I am open to considering any other player, but the ones mentioned above seem to be flexible for customization as well as being popular choices.
