i am trying to build an algorithm to determine distance estimation from a camera. I am given the specifications of the camera such as pixel size, focal length, field of view. My end goal is to find the pixel per metre value in the horizontal (x) and vertical (y) direction. I might not need you to code the algorithm but need some pointers on how to do it.

Hy, I am experienced computer vision engineer with masters degree in this domain. I have sound experience in speed estimation using single camera. So i can effectively do projective transformations, distance measurement using triangulation principles etc. Please let me know if your are interested.
