Usually SQL performance degrade due few next reasons: 1. Missing indexes 2. Using too much indexes. 3. Long running transactions 4. Poor filtering data (retrieving too much to client) 5. Slow hardware. I could estimate what exactly slows down your queries/stored procedures and fix it if you want. Please clarify brand of your SQL Server (MS SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle, etc) and version (number and edition).
