This task will focus on the analysis and re-design of a steering wheel with the purpose of reducing it's weight whilst maintaining acceptable stress and deflection levels. The steering wheel cad files will be provided. The optimization should preferably be done using Ansys or Abaqus.

Hello, I have undertaken projects of this nature numerous amount of time. A nice example that comes to mind is the simulation of an aircraft wing (RYANAIR), performed in ANSYS software. Similar to this project, the end goal was to minimize aircraft wing deflection without increasing stresses. Hi, Greetings!! It looks like you would like to optimize the geometrical features of Steering Wheel. I have following questions: 1. Will you be providing the parametric CAD model? 2. Which CAD file (Catia, Solidworks or NX) you have? 3. Do you have the loads to be applied on the model? To optimize the weight of the wheel, automation of geometry generation and FEA analysis should be done first and then using optimization algorithms like Genetic algorithms weight optimization will be done. I can do this in a commercial optimization tool (don't want to name it) which is very efficient in doing these kind of tasks. Do let me know if you would like to continue the discussion.
