iOS photo app that grabs content from a digital camera and pushes to external server - repost 2

The point of the app is to connect an iPhone/iPad with a digital camera and transfer the photos as they are taken to the iOS device, which then uses its internet connection to sync them with an external server (like our website, the photographer's FTP server, or even things like DropBox, Picasa, Facebook, etc.) My partner in this project, who is a photographer, thinks there are a number of scenarios where this could be useful. Imagine, for example, a newspaper photographer who is on site taking pictures. His editor could be sitting in his office, watching the photos come in one by one, in real-time, as the photographer takes them. He could then communicate with the photographer about specific photos he likes, photos he doesn't like, or changes he would like to make to the shot. It could be like taking a "virtual partner" on a photo shoot, and there are LOTS of situations where this could be useful. Conversely, imagine a wedding photographer who has low-res, watermarked versions of every picture he takes at a wedding synced to the server. Wedding guests could be given a URL (with an optional username/password) and they could be browsing the pictures (and maybe even ordering them??) by the reception. The options are endless... We imagine the app being primarily marketed towards professional/semi-professional photographers. There is an app out there called Pocket Phojo that basically does exactly what we are looking for, but it seems old and only supports Windows Mobile devices: [login to view URL] Probably the most difficult feat for this app will be the connection between the digital camera and the iOS device. Since the app will be aimed primarily at "on the go" photographers, creating an ad hoc wifi connection without a router would be a must. Currently, there seems to be three ways to accomplish this: 1) Eye-Fi card 2) Wifi adapters 3) Cameras with built-in wifi [login to view URL],2817,2357913,[login to view URL] We think that the Eye-Fi card should be the primary way photographers use our app, as it is currently the most cost effective way to equip your camera with wifi. Depending on the difficulty, we would also like to explore support for wifi adapters and/or cameras with built-in wifi. Additionally, there should be the option to import content from the camera the "old fashioned way" via the Apple Camera Connection Kit, for photographers who don't want to mess with wifi at all. The other component of our project is creating a website/server where photographers could upload their content. The photographer would go to our website and set up an account, and photos from his iOS app would be uploaded here. He would be able to create different folders, or "events," for his content, and at any given time he could choose which event folder he wants content from his camera/iOS app to go into. A public URL could be generated for each event folder that would take someone directly there and give them read-only access to its contents. Event folders could be individually protected with a username/password, and the photographer could optionally choose to downscale and/or watermark pictures before they are posted. If a remote user were accessing a particular event folder while the photographer was actively uploading to it, they would see the photos show up in real-time. In this way, someone who cannot physically be with the photographer on the shoot can still see the photos he is taking in real-time. You could potentially take numerous "virtual partners" with you on a photo shoot, and we think this is a very powerful feature of our app. I've hit Freelancer's character limit for the project description, but by this point you should have a sense of what we are looking for.
