I started programming at the age of 13 when I noticed a GW Basic Handbook in my fathers study room, since the day I wrote my first “Hello World” program I got hooked in the exciting world of programming and quickly learned, Qbasic, Pascal and later C.
In 1996 my parents moved to Pretoria and instead of enrolling into a high school to complete my matric, I enrolled at a local college and completed my Matric at Home in one year. In this period I learned an enormous amount of discipline and furthered my programming career by doing small part-time projects from home. At the age of 17, I got a job at the Internet Solution as a junior developer after I showed-off a few of my home projects.
My passion for Software and Technology has earned me great respect from fellow workers. I want to make sure all my projects reflect my dedication, enthusiasm and innovation. I like to share my knowledge with other workers and like be taught in the same way, I prefer working in team environment but have no problem functioning on my own. Over the past 4 years I learnt well to cope under pressure on stressful projects. The greatest honor I could have is to have part in the planning phase of the development cycle. I sometimes get wild ideas but most of them has proven to be the best choice.
My goal in life is to have my own company, not to manage but to develop and research hours on end on whatever I feel like.
The ideal company I would like to work for would be a company that promote innovation, that treat people according to what they achieve and do for the company. Till this date, I have not managed to find a company that realized the potential that I have and that would help me to apply that potential to advance their products and services. I&'m willing to relocate to another country, but for a maximum period of 2 years.

I&'m working on a team with two other Developers on the Master&'s Office Administration system. The Masters Office (Part of Justice Department) manages estates and trusts of deceased people. We were contracted to built the first computerized administration system for the Master&'s Offices. Our system manages the financial aspects of estates and trusts, guardians and interest calculations. All documents in the offices are scanned using software we wrote and filed in a database to get the offices, “paperless”. My current contract will end October 2002 and the chances are quite good that it cannot be renewed due to affirmative action from the Justice Department (Project Owner).
SouthernX

SouthernX employed me as a full-time developer. SouthernX is the developers of Pension and Provident Fund Administration Software. My duty was to develop a full multi-tier business processing center. The idea was that business processes and calculations that ran on client machines and occupied the machine for the duration of the process be moved to a central server where they would be queued, prioritized and split up to run more effectively and quicker while the client machine was free to perform other tasks. I used a COM DLL on COM+ Application server that spawned a number of threads to run various parts of the calculations. Processes took up to 80% quicker of the initial time it took to complete the processes. I completed this task on my own and started with a new Web Development project at SouthernX, later I left the company due to irregularities in the company.
Esave Technologies

Esave Contracted me to built a package that Micro-Lenders can use to debit their clients monthly repayments. I built a Delphi program that the Micro-Lenders downloaded and capture all transactions to be debited. The program then encrypted and compressed the data and electronically submitted it to a server over the Internet. The server opened the package and created files for Standard Bank&'s BEST system. Later, a report was generated and returned to the Micro-Lender over the Internet.
This program was completed and are still processing about 200 000 transactions monthly. I left Esave because my contract expired and the project was over.
CCH Futureworks

Futureworks put together a team of Developers to prove the Microsoft DNA Architecture for one of the largest insurance companies in South Africa, Hollard Insurance. Myself and 4 other Developers had to design and built a framework for the Short-Term Insurance System. We used MTS and XML as a communication protocol and developed the entire system in small modules (ActiveX Controls and COM Dlls). The product was later scratched because there was a financial problem from the project sponsor.
Cash Paymaster Services (CPS) (Permanent)

CPS was a very informative company to work for. CPS was contracted by government of South Africa to pay beneficiaries that receive Government Pension money in rural areas. Initially I was in the Research and Development department but was moved onto the 2000 crisis project. We had to enhance and fix an existing payment system that was built using Borland C++ 4.5 for Windows 3.11. There was no documentation for the system and it was previously written by 9 different developers over a period of 7 years, the code was more than 1 million lines of C code.
Myself and two other developers had to literally sit and read each line of code to analyze how the payment software worked and later draw up a plan how to fix the Y2K problem, make the system more stable (Network clashing problems etc.) and add the new functionality to the product. We only had 4 months to complete the development and I&'m proud to say that the system (WinVams) is still being used today and pays more than 2.5 million beneficiaries every month. I left CPS due to personal reasons.
