Digital Field Guide for Windows

This is a wonderful opportunity for a creative coder who loves nature.

We are working on a digital guide to birds of North America for the Windows OS. It is modeled after our online bird guide called whatbird.com. This is essentially a search engine for identifying birds. The actual search engine can be found at

We have developed the database and there is nothing for you to do as far as its content or design/schema. Its an SQLite database (e.g. this is not a server application). The final app is embedded with the database. We would like the application to be suitable for a 16 x 9 netbook and and have some prototype ideas of how it could be laid out that we will provide to the developer.

As far as programming language it could be C++/C#, Microsoft .NET, Java, or Adobe Air. We would prefer a language like Adobe Air because the interface can easily scale to other screen resolutions (e.g. from small netbooks to LCD TVs) but understand that the same can be accomplished by a good windows UI.

## Deliverables

1) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Employer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the employer on the site per the worker's Worker Legal Agreement).

2) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.

3) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables):

a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Employer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Worker in ready-to-run condition in the Employer's environment.

b) For all others including desktop software or software the employer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this project.
