Do you have an excellent working knowledge of Altova UModel 2016 and state machines? Altova will generate code from the model, so knowledge of C# is desirable for testing, but is not essential. The ability to handle the details of a complex UML state machine model in Altova UModel is the critical skill.
The state machine will control a small robotic system. Input (events) will consist of messages from a User Interface, and status messages from the robot (e.g., the robot arm has reached home position, the emergency stop button was pressed, a physical object ID has been acquired, etc.). The state machine will issue messages to the robot to perform required actions, and status messages to the User Interface.
As an example, the robot needs to sort up to twenty-five objects based on an ID/Sequence number found on each object that the robot is able to read. The state machine will be supplied with a list of available objects and their locations. The message from the User Interface to the state machine would be Sort. The robot would then pick up each object in turn, read the ID/Sequence number, then place that object in the proper location based on the ID/Sequence number.
This is intended to be the first in a series of contracts. This first contract will be something reasonably simple: reset the robot. We will provide a detailed list of messages required to accomplish a reset. The state machine will need to issue these messages, as well as account for status from the robot such as Power Lost, messages from the User Interface such as Cancel, and send a completion message to the User Interface. Subsequent contracts will address more complex operations. We will supply you with a license for UModel if you don't already have one.
To apply for this contract, submit a ump file that demonstrates your knowledge of Altova UModel, and a buildable C# solution that demonstrates the state machine in operation. Something a little more complex than AirConditioning is required (if you are familiar with Altova, you will know what this means).
