Building a data base driven financial website

Build a data-base driven web site displaying investment portfolios.

Each "Portfolio" is made of 10 to 20 “Constituents”.

Hence, there will be initialy 2 important database tables:

- "Portfolios": approx 150 fields, including text, numeric, image, graph data, links etc. (example: portfolio_name, performance, illustrative image, graphdata, url etc...)

- "Constituents": approx 100 fields also including: text, numeric, image, graph data

Basic Requirements:

- Modern look and feel

- We will provide all the data,

- An initial page displays a selection of portfolios,

- Visitor can search for Portfolios based on a search quiry

- Further to the search, a response page displays a list of portfolios

- From the list, the visitor can click one, and a second display page displays a selection of the details of the portfolio.

- We want to be able to update all the database tables in a user friendly way such as an upload from an Excel or Google spreadsheet for example, but we will consider alternatives if user friendly and relevant;

Possible further developments:

- Private pages: Upon registration, a user will be able to see more details of the Portfolios (through the use of another database table such as “PrivatePortfolios”

- Integration of real time data fields linked to google finance or APIs fetching external data;
