Design logo/icon, landing page and colors for our mobile application

We're developing news reader mobile application for Android devices. Screen flows and page layouts have been already designed and are not meant to be changed.
The application name is "KAO" (no space between letters).
We'd like to get a new logo, landing page and color set used on the other pages of the application.
We'll have multiple flavors of the application, every application flavor will show news from a different category (eg. sport, science, general news, celebrities) and different language. For example "KAO Hottest Stories" shows US celebrity news, "KAO Wissenschaft" shows german science news, "KAO Sport" shows polish sports news etc.
The logo should be simple and modern. Should not contain app name. If possible should identify the flavor of the application (eg. german science news).
You should also provide the design of image for recommended section in the Play Store.
The landing page should not be overcomplicated. Only application flavor should be displayed and short description (probably it will be only news release date). Should support portrait and landscape modes.
You should also propose color set which will be used in the application (article_landscape_1, article_landscape_2, article_portrait_1, article_portrait_2, article_list, navigation_drawer).
Image navigation_drawer contains existing app icon, of course it will be replaced by new one.
Background colors depicted on images [url removed, login to view] and [url removed, login to view] are based on image average color, which means that it is different for every article.
