The benefits of having a stand-alone application available on the iPhone and iPad are high. The Common Website Navigational Portal will be smartphone friendly, full accessibility but requires Internet connectivity.
A stand-alone native iOS application could have the basic information available; a FINCA interactive directory with emails, maps and phone numbers in addition to links to the FINCA sites worldwide. Updating this information can be done through the delta update process from the Apple Store, updating information when an Internet connection is present through REST to the server and a combination of both methods.
Features of the Application would include:
• Localization for English, Spanish, French and Russian
• Screens for World View, Regional View, and Country View
• From the country level, Google Maps for directions to a local office
• Connect to the internet/provide links to websites on the internet
• Sending an email by touching the email link
• Dial a number by touching the provided phone number
Recommendation for a Request for Proposal
FINCA International is seeking proposals from experienced and qualified firms or individuals to assist with the creation of a mobile phone application(s) on the iPhone and iPad platforms.
FINCA International is a charitable microfinance organization with locations worldwide. Creating a FINCA International Navigational application for public and employee use will provide a basic over view and single point of access to locations worldwide.
This application shall include:
• Local SQLite database for data updates via REST
• Localization for English, Spanish, French and Russian
• Screens for World View, Regional View, and Country View
• From the country level, Google Maps for reliable mapping
• Documentation and template for future expansion
• Connect to the internet/provide links to websites on the internet
• Send an email by touching the email link
• Dial a number by touching the provided phone number
FINCA International has an established brand a graphical look and feel which will be provided in addition to content.
Qualifications of the Contractor
• The contractor must have experience in Objective C, iOS application development for
• iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. SDK and APIs, Java, C, and C++, Cocoa, iOS.
• The contractor should have history of or have also built application(s) involving cellular triangulation or GPS.
• The contractor should have experience with large data sets and various data formats
• (XML, KML, CSV), and web services and APIs, SQLite and REST.
