Discussion Board/ Forum in PHP (opensource)

I need an online discussion board for one of my clients, so that a select group of their VIP customers can log-in to it and exchange sensitive commercial information and news with each other.

The board needs to be integrated into their current website, and it needs to be secure- accessed only with a username and password – as it will contain very sensitive data.

The board/board page should match the current site design and colors in every way, so that it cannot be seen that it was built by a different person/at a different time from the rest of the website.

I will provide current theme of website.

I am thinking to opt bbPress or phpbb for this development. I want you to suggest me, which is better, easy to customize (theme only for now not functionality), less time taken. I have seen bbPress is good option to choose but I am not sure if it provide a lot of features.
